Job Description About the Role We’re looking for an experienced Legal Recoveries Officer to join our Asset Finance team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing overdue and written‑off accounts, taking prompt and strategic action to safeguard Resimac and its clients’ interests. You’ll work across the full recovery lifecycle – from customer negotiation through to legal proceedings – ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies. You’ll also provide insights to strengthen our recoveries framework, liaise with external legal partners, and play an active role in improving processes across the function. Key responsibilities: Manage overdue and written‑off accounts, including asset repossession and debt collection. Assess and recommend next legal actions in collaboration with solicitors. Conduct cost analysis prior to initiating legal proceedings. Maintain compliance with all relevant legislation and internal risk policies. Provide accurate and timely responses to internal and external stakeholders. Report and elevate any irregular practices or compliance risks. Coach and support new team members to foster a high‑performing culture. Review and enhance processes to improve efficiency and outcomes. Manage relationships with external law firms to achieve optimal recoveries. About You You’re a proactive, solutions-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys finding practical, commercial outcomes. You’re confident managing complex recoveries and have a sound understanding of asset finance, legal recoveries, and compliance frameworks. 3+ years’ experience in legal recoveries, collections, or paralegal roles. Background in Banking & Finance , ideally within asset finance or mortgage recoveries . Strong knowledge of relevant legislation (NCC, AML/CTF, Privacy Act, Fair Trading Act, Bankruptcy, Real Property). Experience managing legal recoveries and external law firms. Sound understanding of mortgage litigation and recovery processes. Skilled negotiator able to resolve matters and recover funds while maintaining customer relationships. Experience handling chattel mortgages, asset or equipment repossessions. What’s in it for You?
