Sandy Island - Tennis Instructor/Camp Photographer at YMCA of Greater Boston Pay Range The pay range is $215 - $275 per week, based on skills and experience. Job Overview This dual role blends tennis instruction and camp photography for a 10‑week overnight summer program at Sandy Island. Key Responsibilities Tennis Instruction Lead daily tennis sessions for children and adults. Provide age‑appropriate coaching on serving, volleying, and overall gameplay. Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and enjoyment of the sport. Maintain tennis equipment and ensure courts are safe and clean. Adjust instruction to match diverse ages and skill levels. Encourage participation and foster positive relationships with campers. Photography & Media Capture high‑quality images of camp activities, events, and community life. Organize digital photo files for internal use and camper access. Offer portrait sessions for campers and families upon request. Post regularly to social media channels, ensuring appropriate representation of camp. Maintain a photo purchasing system accessible to campers and families. Essential Functions – Live onsite during the camp season; support approximately 180 campers and 60 staff members, six to seven days per week for ten weeks; participate actively in camp life. Safety & Culture – Support incident reporting and uphold community safety standards; demonstrate stewardship for equipment and camp resources; foster morale and well‑being within the camp community. Minimum Qualifications Full‑time availability for the camping season (beginning 2 Saturdays before July 4 and ending Labor Day).Must be at least 16 years of age.Desire and ability to work in a camp setting.Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and follow‑through.Passion for people and a willingness to serve.Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self‑control. Qualifications Experience in tennis instruction, coaching, or active play preferred. Proficiency in photography, including personal DSLR or mirrorless camera equipment. Strong organizational and communication skills. Energetic, patient, and able to balance multiple responsibilities. Prior experience working with children, families, or in a camp setting preferred.
