Senior Risk and Compliance Officer - National Firearms Register Program (NFR) Join to apply for the Senior Risk and Compliance Officer - National Firearms Register Program (NFR) role at Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission. The National Firearms Register Program (NFR) is delivering the most significant reform to Australia’s firearms management in thirty years. The four-year Program will deliver the National Firearms Register by July 2028, leading the technical uplift of Australia’s firearms management systems, improvements to data quality, reforms to legislation and policy reform, and support through change management and stakeholder engagement. This fast‑paced, complex reform program will be delivered through the National Firearms Register Program (NFR Program), which is led by ACIC on behalf of all partners. We are seeking a Senior Risk and Compliance Officer, with strong leadership skills and proven risk and compliance management capability. The successful candidate’s work unit will be the NFR Program’s Planning and Assurance Section, working with a diverse range of stakeholders across ACIC, jurisdictions and a number of Commonwealth agencies. Role responsibilities Support the NFR Program to achieve its delivery objectives as part of the NFR’s Planning and Assurance Section; Work with partner agencies to identify and report on risks to delivery; Apply an experienced and contemporary approach to risk management and compliance, in line with existing ACIC risk frameworks; Support the development of the NFR’s future state risk and compliance arrangements. Skills and capabilities Proven ability to support the delivery of a complex regulatory reform, with multiple stakeholders in a public sector context, through best‑practice risk management disciplines; The ability to operate effectively within political and bureaucratic landscapes; Excellent stakeholder engagement skills. Capable of navigating sensitive topics and building trust; Resilience, commitment to delivery and quality, sound judgement and the ability to solve problems quickly and effectively; Strategic thinking with excellent analytical, planning and reporting capability; Exceptional and proven verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to neatly articulate and present complex concepts to a diverse audience, including senior boards and assurance reviews. Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen. Security Clearance – The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
