We are seeking to establish a pool of Gardener - Handypersons for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. The Role We are seeking enthusiastic and hardworking Gardener - Handypersons to support the ongoing care and maintenance of our school grounds and facilities. Suitable applicants would be responsible for keeping all outdoor areas clean, safe and visually appealing, including lawns, gardens, pathways, sandpits and sporting surfaces. Key duties would include mowing and edging lawns, operating and maintaining the irrigation system, controlling leaf litter, raking and replenishing sandpits and carrying out general gardening tasks to ensure the grounds remained well‑presented throughout the year. It is desirable that suitable applicants have a broad range of general handyperson skills. This may include conducting minor repairs, assembling and maintaining outdoor equipment and fixtures, tending to basic building and maintenance tasks, monitoring the condition of playgrounds and managing small‑scale projects as required. Routine checks of tools, horticultural equipment and machinery, along with basic servicing and maintenance, ensures all items remain safe and operational. Suitable applicants will ideally have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, using initiative and a strong work ethic to manage tasks efficiently. Sound communication and interpersonal skills are important in developing positive working relationships with school staff and supporting the smooth day‑to‑day running of the site. A solid understanding of safe working practices, including the safe use of chemicals, machinery and equipment, is highly desirable.
