About the role headspace in partnership with Mind aims to promote and facilitate improvements in the mental health, social wellbeing and economic participation of young people aged 12-25 years residing the Greensborough + Plenty Valley area. Services in this youth friendly space are delivered across four core streams - physical and sexual health, mental health, alcohol and other drugs (AOD), and educational and vocational services to improve access for young people to mental health programs as well as ensuring better co‑ordination between service providers. We are seeking compassionate, resilient Peer Practitioners for a Permanent, Part-Time opportunity (22.8 hours per week) in the Greensborough + Plenty Valley area. You will utilise your lived experience of mental ill health and recovery to provide services to young people, families, friends and carers. In this role you will be the champion of co‑design and co‑production in all aspects of the service, work with young people to define their own outcomes and deliver personalised support services and recovery‑oriented care to young people living with mental ill health in the community. Key responsibilities Willingness to utilise and disclose your own lived experience of mental ill health and recovery in an appropriate and purposeful manner to support, empower, bring hope, and support the recovery of young people. Provide direct support to young people and their families and friends by supporting them through a staged approach to recovery Support the team to understand and deliver services that are consistent with recovery – oriented practice from a peer/lived experience perspective. Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co‑ordinated, integrated response to client’s recovery goals. What you’ll bring Completion of Intentional Peer Support Core and/ or Advanced Training, or Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, is desirable but not required. Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) are required in Mental Health, Peer Work, Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) or other health related field as designated by Mind. Experience, expertise and/or desire in working directly with people with mental health issues, and their families and carers. Experience and/or commitment in providing empathic person‑centred relational support, while recognising positionality, relative power and privilege. Mandarin, Cantonese and/or other Asian language skills are highly regarded.
