Turosi Pty Ltd is a privately owned Company with facilities in Victoria, Brisbane and NSW, providing a full range of raw and cooked food solutions across a range of proteins to the retail and food service sectors. A senior position currently exists for a National Health and Safety Manager based at Broadmeadows, Thomastown or Geelong site in Victoria. Reporting to the General Manager People & Culture, you will be responsible for setting and delivering the safety strategy as the business matures on its safety journey, researching, implementing and driving a health and safety management system along with coaching, enabling and assisting people leaders to champion health and safety throughout the organisation. You will ensure that Turosi maintains a healthy and safe work environment as indicated by good industry practices and in compliance with legislative requirements through the development, deployment and continuous improvement of the organisations health and safety management system. Some of the key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: Drive activities that will reduce the injury rate in the business Lead health and safety initiatives and development of a safety culture for Turosi Develop the Turosi safety strategic plan for the Executive to endorse and implement the strategy. Review and refresh the safety strategy on an annual basis for submission to the General Manager, People & Culture for endorsement. Research, recommend and implement an appropriate manufacturing centric health and safety management system Monitor, review and report on the performance of the health and safety management system in achieving health and safety strategic objectives and compliance with health and safety legislation through a positive due diligence process Prepare an annual due diligence report and setting new health and safety objectives for approval by the Executive and endorsement by Board Assess the level of compliance of the implemented health and safety management system through regular self-assessments, taking action as required and initiating improvements Play a key role in establishing safety systems and culture from the ground up as we transition into a brand-new greenfield facility. Lead the development and implementation of best-practice HSE frameworks to support the commissioning, ramp up and ongoing operations of the new site. Drive proactive risk management and safe design principles throughout the construction, fit out and go-live phases. Partner closely with project teams and operational leaders to ensure the new facility sets a benchmark for safety excellence. The successful candidate will ideally have tertiary and/or professional qualifications in a health & safety related discipline with significant years of experience gained in health and safety teams in a complex manufacturing environment (preferably Food related or FMCG). They will have demonstrated experience in deploying organisation wide health and safety strategies, plans and policies to ensure efficient service delivery with a focus on quality and risk management; experience in warehouse management with an ability to coach, lead and motivate a team. You will have a team orientated approach with excellent interpersonal skills. Your attention to detail, ability to work autonomously and manage pressure situations will put you ahead of most.
