Part of La Trobe’s health education strategy includes construction of a new Clinical Teaching Building and student-led clinic, providing additional state of the art facilities for orthoptics education and an outstanding student and staff experience. A Level A teaching focused position will support high-quality teaching and learning within the Discipline of Orthoptics. With guidance from subject coordinators, this position delivers high-quality teaching in various formats, lectures, tutorials, practical and clinical sessions, both in person and online. Responsibilities include providing prompt feedback, collaborating on curriculum design, sharing practices within La Trobe’s SOLT, supporting knowledge transfer, building local partnerships, and completing assigned administrative duties. A Level B teaching focused position will involve developing curriculum, teaching and undertaking scholarly work relevant to Orthoptics, contributing to both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the discipline. The position includes delivering high-quality teaching across multiple formats, leading teaching improvements, supervising Honours and/or Masters students, evaluating teaching effectiveness with evidence-based methods, sharing best practices within La Trobe’s SOLT, and performing other tasks as assigned by department leadership. Skills and Experience To be considered for this position, you will have: Masters degree in Orthoptics or clinical experience equivalent to this qualification. Sound knowledge, expertise, and skills in at least one or more of the key areas of orthoptic practice with a commitment to ongoing development of disciplinary and teaching expertise. Demonstrated capability and commitment to delivering high-quality, student-centered learning and teaching across face-to-face, blended and/or online modes, with experience engaging students and fostering independent learning. Demonstrated engagement in teaching innovation, with early examples of contributions that support or enhance the student learning experience. Masters degree in Orthoptics or clinical experience equivalent to this qualification. Sound knowledge, expertise, and skills in at least one or more of the key areas of orthoptic practice with a commitment to ongoing development of disciplinary and teaching expertise. Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, curriculum development and subject coordination in face-to-face, blended and/or online modes, as evidenced by sustained high results on student feedback on teaching surveys, teaching excellence awards or through other forms of evidence. Evidence of innovative initiatives undertaken that have improved the student experience, and the evaluation of effectiveness of these initiatives.
