Role Summary Dive into the world of storytelling, performance and filmmaking in JMC Academy’s Acting course. This hands‑on program equips aspiring Actors with industry‑relevant skills in Performance (stage & screen), screenwriting, theatre making, , production design, devising, screen production and more. With access to industry‑standard rehearsal studios, collaborative learning environments, and guidance from experienced industry practitioners, students develop the creative and technical expertise to bring compelling stories to life across theatre, film, television, and digital platforms. The Senior Lecturer (Acting) reports to the Head of Department, and maintains regular and ongoing communication with the Head of Department, the Director of Studies (Academic) and the Dean’s Office in relation to learning and teaching, professional development strategies and implementation. This role will work closely with other academic leads to develop and implement learning and teaching strategies for the Screen Acting elements within the course. The role will have oversight and overall responsibility for all screen production activities within the course. Key Responsibilities Contributing to the implementation of learning and teaching strategies, plans and initiatives including educational innovations relevant to JMC Academy’s education plan. Contribute to the development of contemporary approaches to teaching and learning, with the support of the Dean and the Director of Studies (Academic), and the Associate Dean, Scholarship. Contributing to the monitoring, reviewing and reporting on same for the purpose evaluating and improving learning and teaching at JMC Academy. Support initiatives that enhance student engagement, satisfaction and academic performance through inclusive teaching practices and data‑informed improvements to the learning experience. Support graduate employability by aligning curriculum with industry needs, embedding transferable skills and engaging alumni to ensure program relevance. Work with the Head of Department on the design and development of the curriculum, learning activities, resources, assessments, rubrics and feedback to improve student learning experiences where required at the unit of study level. Coordinate and contribute to the implementation of the Moderation Review schedule with the Head of Department. Contributing to designing the Professional Development Schedule, in consultation with senior academic staff and the Learning and Teaching Committee. Maintaining their listing on the Professional Development Register. Coordinate student support initiatives and offer student pastural care Assisting the Head of Department with day‑to‑day operations, such as lecturer support, timetables, student record management and student enrolment/progressions. Designing, in consultation with relevant staff, academic integrity strategies, and implementing and reporting on effectiveness of same. Key Attributes and Experience Academic Staff Development Engage staff in learning and teaching growth. Assist in staff development and support candidates for teaching excellence awards. Contribute to practice‑based inquiry and reflection. Share innovations through publications, presentations, and collaborations to improve student learning outcomes. External Relations Maintain industry and government partnerships. Collaborate with industry for curriculum design and work‑integrated learning opportunities. Education & Skills Proven teaching and learning design at undergraduate/postgraduate levels. Experience with educational technologies and online delivery. Prior experience in Film Production, TV Studio environments, and Production Houses highly regarded. Industry Collaboration Work with industry stakeholders to enhance curriculum and provide work‑integrated learning. Has this job piqued your interest?
