We have a great opportunity for a driven individual to join our growing AFGS team as a Customer Assist & Hardship Officer on a max-term full-time basis. You will play a vital role in the AFG Home Loans experience for our customers and be involved in various aspects of the home loan process from post approval to settlement stage, including minimising the number of managed loans in arrears in a caring and understanding manner. Key responsibilities Contacting home loan customers who have overdue payments and accurate recording of contact and agreements. Conducting hardship assessments through discussion and correspondence with customers experiencing financial difficulty. Negotiation of timely repayment arrangements for clearance of arrears. Assisting with system reporting and data requirements. General administration support. Ensuring compliance with legislative, policy, and procedural requirements. Ability to complete hindsight audit reports on credit decisioning. Instructing Mercantile Agents when necessary. Instructing Solicitors to commence recovery proceedings when necessary. About You The successful candidate will be a self-starter, driven and an excellent communicator. You will be required to demonstrate : Minimum five years collections and / or hardship experience – preferably in banking or home lending environment. Some knowledge of the National Consumer Credit Protection Act in relation to defaults and recoveries. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Professional and friendly phone manner. Strong problem-solving ability and negotiation skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritise. Ability to collaborate with team members. An open mind with a flexible attitude to duties. Ability to learn quickly. Competence in the use of Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
