Department of Education Victoria – Kalkallo VIC 10d ago , from Department of Education & Training Victoria Ngayuk College is a new co-educational government secondary school located in the heart of Kalkallo, Victoria. Opened in 2026 with a foundation cohort of Year 7 students, the school will grow by one year level each year, eventually catering for up to 2000 students from Years 7 to 12 in 2031. Ngayuk College delivers a comprehensive curriculum in line with the Victorian Curriculum F‑10, inclusive of Levels A‑D. The learning program is structured around the eight key learning areas: English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities (including History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship, Economics and Business), Health and Physical Education, The Arts, Technologies and Languages. Japanese will be offered as the core language, and all students will participate in a dedicated wellbeing and personal development program, MyBeing, which supports identity development, wellbeing literacy and personal agency. Selection Criteria Experience and/or ability in development and implementation of intervention programmes, such as MacqLit, that support student outcomes, with particular focus on supporting literacy outcomes. Demonstrated capacity to support learners with diverse needs, both in the classroom and in small‑group/individual settings, using patient, consistent and differentiated strategies. Demonstrated capacity to monitor and respond to achievement and growth data for students engaged in intervention programmes. Demonstrated capacity to work cooperatively with a range of people including teachers, education support, students and parents. High‑level oral and written communication skills. A commitment to professional learning and growth for both self and others. Role Monday to Friday – 8:30 am to 3:00 pm Must hold a valid employee Working With Children’s Check. An education support class position at this range will perform tasks in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational programme. The role supports educational services but does not include duties of a teacher as defined in the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic). Supervision of students may be required individually or in groups up to four in controlled circumstances, with responsibility for students remaining with a teacher. Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years may be required. The first level for which a Registered Nurse is required is Level 1, range 3. A role at this range may include: Specific support tasks to achieve outcomes, typically involving accountability for a single function such as ensuring data is properly maintained, or coordination of a work area under the direction of a principal or manager. Assisting teachers within an educational programme by undertaking specific support tasks or coordinating the support function. Supervised health and wellbeing support tasks, medical intervention support tasks, or other specialised student/teacher support roles (e.g., enrolled nurses performing the role as described in schedule 3). Technical tasks that require sound knowledge of basic technical and/or scientific principles for developing and adapting work methods, with limited options and clear guidelines. Responsibilities Running small‑group MacqLit sessions with low‑progress readers. Providing one‑on‑one or small‑group support for students with diverse learning profiles, using patient, consistent and differentiated strategies. Supporting students with additional needs in the classroom by reinforcing teacher‑directed learning, implementing adjustments, and helping students stay engaged and regulated. Monitoring student progress through data collection, session records, and regular assessments, and communicating growth or concerns to the supervising teacher. Maintaining clear, professional communication with teachers, students and families, including contributing to written reports or updates. Providing routine support for teachers, including assisting with planning of student routines. Supporting communication between teachers and parents. Providing basic physical care and wellbeing support for students such as toileting, meals, and lifting. Communicating with students to support comprehension of basic tasks and information. Addressing immediate behavioural presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting aligned to school policy and procedure. Providing basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to four students within a classroom setting. Supporting teachers in the coordination of educational programmes independently or under minimal supervision, including rostering and organising the work of a team of aides, routine coordination, guidance and support to other student support staff, liaising with external providers of support services, and assisting teachers with communication of student outcomes. Providing medical intervention support to a student or students under specific conditions, with appropriate training and guidance.
