Literacy Early Intervention Program Classroom Teacher Department of Education Victoria – Cairnlea VIC University Park Primary School is located in the City of Brimbank, near Victoria University. The school opened in 1972 and serves a mix of residential and new housing communities. The school is committed to supporting all students to achieve high standards in literacy and numeracy, with a whole‑school approach and a focus on safe and inclusive learning environments. Role The Literacy and Numeracy Early Intervention Program (LNEIP) provides government primary schools with funding to deliver targeted small‑group learning support to students in Years 1‑6 who are performing significantly below their age‑expected standard in literacy and numeracy. As a Class­room Teacher for LNEIP, you will be responsible for planning, preparing and teaching the small‑group programs, providing teacher leadership, and contributing to the improvement of teaching practice across the school. Responsibilities Provide structured, small‑group learning programs in literacy and numeracy, following a documented sequence of lessons to address specific student gaps. Identify students in Years 1–6 who need additional support in literacy and/or numeracy and record their participation. Measure attainment for each participating student using a standardised assessment tool at the beginning and end of the year. Plan, deliver and assess classroom teaching, including direct teaching of groups or individuals. Develop, implement and evaluate curriculum activities in literacy and numeracy, collaborating with school leadership. Take on additional duties as directed by the Principal, including supervisory and non‑teaching responsibilities. Mentor and coach staff, leading professional learning that improves instructional quality. Support school‑wide use of student data to inform teaching and achieve learning outcomes. Selection Criteria SC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including integration of literacy and numeracy skills, and experience responding to diverse student learning needs. SC2 Proven ability to plan and implement high‑impact teaching strategies and evaluate their effect on student growth. SC3 Experience monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform practice and providing feedback to students and parents. SC4 Strong interpersonal and communication skills, establishing collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader community. SC5 Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values; reflective practice and ongoing professional learning to improve teaching quality. Qualification Requirements Provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching. For those who completed an Australian postgraduate initial teaching program on or after 1 January 2024, satisfactory completion of an accredited postgraduate initial teacher education program is required. Graduates of a Victorian Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program after 1 July 2016 must have satisfied LANTITE requirements.
