Scientific Officer Respiratory Investigations Opportunity exists for a new temporary part-time (2 day per week) position as a Respiratory Hospital Scientist at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital (HKH). This service involves performing a range of respiratory investigations appropriate for the diagnosis and management of patients with respiratory diseases. The intended days are Tuesdays and Thursdays, with hours from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Employment Type : Temporary Part Time until 1 November 2027 (with possibility of ongoing employment) Position Classification : Scientific Officer Remuneration : $37.03 - $52.83 per hour Hours Per Week : 16 Requisition ID : REQ Where you'll be working Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital Respiratory Investigations Clinics What You'll Be Doing The Respiratory Scientist is responsible for the provision of high‑quality care to patients. The role involves performing a range of respiratory investigations, including spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity for carbon monoxide, exercise testing, and bronchial provocation tests. You must possess knowledge of the procedures, methodology and theory pertaining to respiratory function testing, undertake routine diagnostic tests, and appraise results to ensure accurate data recording and reporting. People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply. Candidates Will Need To Meet The Following Criteria Degree in Science from an approved university or college of advanced education requiring a minimum of three years full‑time study or equivalent qualifications deemed by the employer. Relevant experience within a hospital or private practice setting in respiratory function measurement. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in technical procedures associated with specialised procedures and/or treatments relevant to the speciality, preferably in spirometry, lung volumes, diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide, exercise testing and bronchial provocation tests. Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the utilisation of information technology and biomedical equipment. Demonstrated excellent communication, time‑management and organisational skills to work in a responsible and efficient manner, managing competing priorities to meet deadlines.
