Hunter Community Housing (HCH), an agency of the Catholic Diocese of Maitland‑Newcastle, is seeking a dedicated Tenancy Services Officer to support the effective management of our growing portfolio of affordable and market residential rental properties across the Hunter region. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to deliver high‑quality tenancy and property management while supporting tenants to maintain stable and successful tenancies. As the primary contact for tenants, landlords and support partners, you will manage tenancy and lease administration, rent and arrears processes, coordinate property inspections and maintenance, and assist with onboarding new properties. You will also provide occasional support to specialist programs, including our tenancy response function. With a strong focus on customer service, compliance and professional property management practices, you will help ensure our rental programs operate smoothly and meet all relevant regulatory requirements. The role also contributes to building strong landlord relationships and supporting HCH’s continued growth and development. Onsite Parking POSITION DESCRIPTION The purpose of this position is to manage tenant and landlord relationships, carry out daily tenancy and property management tasks in compliance with community housing National Law, the NSW Residential Tenancies Act (2010) and associated regulatory obligations. The Tenancy Services Officer is responsible for delivering high‑quality tenancy and property management services across Hunter Community Housing’s portfolio of properties under management. This includes assisting with tenancy and lease administration, rent and arrears management, property inspections, new property onboarding, property handback, landlord engagement, tenant engagement and connecting tenants with support services to promote stable tenancies. The role focuses on providing customer‑centric, responsive services to tenants, acting as the primary point of contact for all tenancy matters. It requires a blend of property management skills and a commitment to supporting tenants’ wellbeing and ability to sustain their tenancy. The Tenancy Services Officer is responsible for managing a portfolio of properties and will work proactively to manage property care, tenant arrears and community issues. The incumbent commits to working within Work Health and Safety guidelines and Code of Conduct at all times whilst in the employ of Hunter Community Housing, an agency of the Catholic Diocese of Maitland‑Newcastle. EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA 5+ years demonstrated experience in tenancy/property management. Strong customer services and communication skills. Problem‑solving and conflict resolution skills. Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, tenancy management and other relevant software. Commitment to social justice and fair housing principles. QUALIFICATIONS Diploma or Certificate in Real Estate Management, Social Housing or other relevant disciplines. Current Class C Driver’s Licence. Applicants will require a clearance in regard to Working with Children and Criminal background checks. Experience in working in community housing (Desirable).
