We are now seeking a Data Transformation Lead to join a major transformation program for one of our large energy sector clients. The Data Transformation Lead will play a pivotal role in a multi‑year transformation program aimed at re‑shaping a leading energy retailer’s digital, data, and customer ecosystem. This program is modernising the business model, elevating customer engagement, and embedding scalable digital and data foundations to support growth to 2030 and beyond. In this role, you will define, drive, and embed the new Data & Analytics Ecosystem , with a strong emphasis on data migration, data governance, and modern data architecture uplift . You’ll provide strategic leadership while still being hands‑on, ensuring the migration and transformation activities land effectively across technology, people, and processes. Key Responsibilities Strategic Data Leadership Define and drive the target state for data platforms, models, engineering standards, and lifecycle management. Shape the data transformation agenda and advocate for data‑driven decision‑making across business and technology domains. Provide technical direction and thought leadership to align the ecosystem with enterprise‑wide digital and transformation objectives. Data Migration & Quality (Core Focus) Lead the end‑to‑end data migration strategy, including requirements gathering, profiling, source mapping, cleansing, extraction, transformation, validation, and cutover. Establish strong controls and frameworks to ensure data integrity, security, lineage, and trust throughout the migration lifecycle. Drive hands‑on decision‑making and problem‑solving to unblock migration dependencies and ensure alignment with program timelines. Data Governance & Architecture Implement and embed modern data architectures (e.g., Medallion, domain‑based, cloud‑native patterns). Establish data ownership, stewardship, standards, and change‑management practices. Ensure all data assets follow governance, compliance, and security requirements. Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management Engage, educate, and uplift business users to create a strong data culture and support self‑service analytics. Collaborate closely with product, engineering, digital, and transformation leads (local and global) to harmonise practices and maximise interoperability. Translate complex data concepts into clear, business‑aligned outcomes. Identify, assess, and introduce emerging technologies (AI, automation, cloud innovations) that strengthen the data ecosystem. Continuously refine tools, processes, workflows, and models to improve performance, quality, and business value. Health, Safety & Environment Promote a positive safety culture and comply with all HS&E policies and mandatory obligations. Identify risks to wellbeing or environment and address or elevate as required. Qualifications, Skills & Experience Qualifications Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Data, Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Technical Skills & Experience Proven experience leading large‑scale data or digital transformation programs within complex organisations (energy, utilities, telco, or similar environments ideal). Strong, hands‑on background in data migration , including strategy, execution, and delivery leadership. Expertise across cloud platforms (AWS preferred), modern data architectures, data governance frameworks, and data engineering best practices. Demonstrated ability to influence and lead cross‑functional teams across multiple business units, geographies, and levels of seniority. Experience delivering business value through data innovation, automation, AI, and cloud‑native technologies. Manages Ambiguity – Operates effectively in uncertain or evolving environments.
