Accounts Payable Officer – Local Organising Committee AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Pty Ltd The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has awarded Football Australia hosting rights for the 2026 edition of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup™. This marks Australia’s second time hosting the event, after previously staging it in 2006, and follows the success of co‑hosting the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup™. You will be part of a Local Organising Committee (LOC) established specifically to deliver the 2026 edition of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup™ in Australia. The event will bring together 12 nations in a tournament structured into three groups of four. The role is fixed‑term from January until March 2026. Responsibilities Process supplier invoices, staff expenses, and weekly payment runs with accuracy and compliance. Maintain and reconcile the Accounts Payable ledger, control accounts, and supplier balances. Verify supplier bank details and resolve invoice or payment discrepancies. Ensure correct coding, approvals, and alignment with procurement and finance policies. Support month‑end close, reporting and continuous process improvements. A full copy of the position description can be found here: Qualifications and Experience Minimum of 1+ year accounts payable experience. Adept Excel skills for data entry and ad‑hoc analysis. Understanding of accounting principles and practices. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment. High attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage training to non‑finance team. Demonstrated ability to work with agility, foster trust, embrace inclusivity, collaborate as one united team, and consistently strive for excellence. Desirable Advanced skills in accounting software – Xero. Advanced skills in purchase order/invoicing/workflow software – Approval Max. Experience in sporting, event or not‑for‑profit environment. Additional Conditions Full working rights in Australia (note: due to the fixed‑term nature of the tournament, sponsorship for this position is not offered). Working with children check (paid/employee) or state‑based equivalent. International Criminal History Record for each country (other than Australia) in which you have resided for 12 months or more in the last 10 years (if applicable). Out of hours and weekend work as required. Role based at Moore Park in Sydney.
