To solve this problem, you will work closely with a fellow psychology post‑doctoral candidate. Specifically, this role will seek to develop sophisticated AI approaches that extract psychological insights from digital text data. You will work with world‑class computing infrastructure while tackling challenging problems that bridge computer science and psychology, collaborating directly with both academic researchers and the Australian Government. Working in partnership with the Australian government, you will have the opportunity to liaise with international partners and academic institutions. You will also be encouraged to work on additional projects that complement the main body of research, integrate within existing research labs, and develop teaching and science communication skills. The Person We are looking for a qualified computer scientist or computational linguist with demonstrated expertise in training large language models and using larger scale computing infrastructure for affective computing or applications in psychology. We are looking for someone who likes challenging problems and encourages team members and colleagues to workshop effective solutions across disciplinary boundaries. Innovation and creativity are essential in this role, and a desire to tackle complex problems that have direct practical application to the work of the Australian government. If suitable, the successful person will have the opportunity to undertake the Australian government security clearance process to enable more compartmented access to information and data relevant to the research project.
