Product Application Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Product Application Engineer to join our team at Phoenix Contact Pty Ltd in Parramatta, NSW. In this role, you will provide technical expertise and application support for industrial automation solutions, networking infrastructure, and safety systems. This is a full-time position that will allow you to leverage your technical expertise and problem-solving skills to deliver exceptional service and solutions to our valued clients. Responsibilities Deliver training and provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders (including distributors, integrators, and end users) for automation, networking, and safety products. Provide pre‑sales and post‑sales technical assistance. Conduct product demonstrations, workshops, and presentations for key stakeholders. Assist the sales team with technical quotations and specifications. Support solution‑based sales activities and collaborate with Product Management on new product releases. Provide technical and administrative support for tenders, including ad‑hoc reviews and responses. Offer on‑site support for customers, including testing and commissioning. Prepare and supply drawings using AutoCAD or similar tools. Manage project implementation from design and build through to integration. Configure applications, conduct testing, troubleshoot issues, and resolve problems in both test and live environments. Work closely with Test Engineers, consultants, software developers, and customer testing teams. What We’re Looking For Tertiary qualifications in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a technical support role. Strong understanding of industrial automation systems (PLCs, SCADA). Knowledge of high‑level programming languages (e.g., C++, HTML5, Python). Expertise in industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus). Familiarity with cybersecurity principles for industrial networks (e.g., IEC 62443). Knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 13849, IEC 61508). Certifications in industrial networking or automation technologies (e.g., Cisco Industrial Networking, IEC 62443) highly regarded. Experience with electrical CAD platforms (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN). Experience using network monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark). Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders. Proficiency in engineering software and documentation. Willingness to travel for on‑site support and demonstrations.
