Overview The tax manager role involves support of the principals through managing workflow, reviewing complex compliance work, mentoring and training the accounting team, adherence to standard process and procedures and maintaining a high level of quality in the tax, accounting compliance and advisory work. Review Process Ongoing monitoring of the job budget, assisting the senior accountants with on-the-job training, mentoring and assistance as required. Check completion of workpapers prior to review Review senior accountants' / accountants jobs based on standard workpapers to be completed in full and signed off. Identify strategic planning, risk management and tax-saving opportunities for clients for client summary email. Book in teams call with preparer to discuss and agree on review points. Aim to finalise for collation of work within 3 business days including client summary email detailing management items to discuss. Complex Client Management Develop and maintain strong relationships with a portfolio of clients and their bookkeepers. Responding to client emails and other correspondence in a timely manner. Provide written tax advice for clients as required and review tax advice prepared by senior accountants. Overseeing client communications from Senior Accountants to ensure high professional standards are maintained via email, letter and general advice. Ensure all compliance deadlines are met accurately and on time. Including income tax returns, BAS, IAS, FBT, payroll tax and any other requirements Review annual trust resolutions. Manage weekly workflow meetings and work closely with tax managers regarding workflow. Attend monthly workflow management meeting with office manager and designated principal. Assist with tax research and provide advice on complex tax issues Identify and arrange tax planning and strategic planning opportunities. Practice Development Another lead technical person for the accounting team to discuss complex tax and accounting matters. Contribute to internal process improvements and knowledge sharing. Maintain up-to-date team knowledge of tax legislation, standards, and industry trends. Promote continual learning and team development. Uphold the firm's values and contribute to a positive team culture. Identifying improvement areas for the practice Assist principals in half yearly and annual performance review feedback. Ongoing performance management of team members when concerns arise around accuracy, efficiency and productivity in collaboration with the HR Principal Practice Management Attend monthly key managers meeting and assist with below areas : Human Resources Workflow Billings and write offs.
