About the role The Senior Financial Accountant provides high quality customer focused accounting services to the business in accordance with Accounting Standards, compliance regulations and the Groups policies and procedures. This role will take ownership of the end of month and end of year accounting process, reporting and financial compliance matters over several of the Groups different business units. While it is mandatory that all accounting requirements are met to the highest standards, the Senior Financial Accountant is expected to identify and take ownership of implementing business improvements. This “can do” attitude will a critical success factor in the role. Duties for the Senior Financial Accountant will include ownership of month end process, ensuring compliance with regulations, monitoring and implementing proper internal controls, documenting, and maintaining finance policies and procedures, and ensuring accuracy of financial information. Excellent analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent interpersonal relationship skills, in particular building constructive and long‑term relationships with both internal and external parties. Ability to identify problems, suggest solutions and make improvements. A high level of efficiency and proactiveness. High level of numeric and financial acumen. Advanced spreadsheeting skills (e.g. advanced Excel). Understanding of current AASB accounting standards and technical acumen to interpret the standards. At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar role. Would suit a candidate working towards their CPA or CA qualification. Why WSG? WSG is Australia’s fastest growing waste management company.
