ABOUT THE ROLE This is a permanent, full‑time position (40 hours per week) on a nine‑day fortnight roster, DIDO. The role can be based at either our Worsley Alumina Refinery or Boddington Bauxite Mine, reporting to the Senior Manager External Affairs – Australia. Please note that accommodation is not provided on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out to site on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour’s drive of site. You will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of community, communications and external affairs strategies that enhance Worsley Alumina’s reputation, build trusted relationships and drive positive social value across the South West and Peel Regions. Key deliverables for the role are, but aren’t limited to: Developing and executing engagement strategies that protect reputation, strengthen stakeholder relationships and ensure alignment with business objectives. Building collaborative partnerships with Traditional Owners, community leaders, industry bodies and government representatives to deliver shared regional outcomes. Overseeing social performance, communications and investment programs that reflect South32’s values and contribute to long‑term community wellbeing. Leading and coaching a high‑performing team, fostering inclusion, accountability and continuous improvement in every interaction. ABOUT YOU You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: Extensive experience (10+ years) in external affairs, communications or a related discipline, including experience in leadership roles. Strategic stakeholder management, with the ability to navigate complex relationships and influence through integrity and trust. Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, translating complex topics into clear, relatable messages for diverse audiences. Leadership in dynamic environments, showing sound judgement, empathy and adaptability while delivering consistent outcomes.
