Principal Policy Officer, Advisory and Negotiations – Level 7 Department: Department of the Premier & Cabinet WA Location: West Perth, WA Salary: $139,860 – $149,485 per annum (PSCSA Agreement) Employment type: Permanent – Full Time Closing date: 5 January – 4:00 PM About the Unit The Native Title Act Future Acts Unit (the Unit) provides strategic oversight and leadership of future act matters across the Western Australian public sector. It is part of the Aboriginal Engagement directorate and delivers three key functions: Future Acts Advisory and Negotiation; Future Acts Assessment and Triage; and secretariat/administrative support for relevant committees. About the Role The Principal Policy Officer leads the development and delivery of strategic projects, policy outcomes, and provides WA Government agencies with guidance and support in relation to future act matters. Responsibilities include Leading complex future act negotiations with state government, private, and community stakeholders. Developing and implementing collaborative strategies that require resolution across agencies. Building capability and awareness to promote best practice approaches across the public sector. Key Responsibilities Develop, negotiate, and implement whole of government solutions to complex native title future act matters. Lead and coordinate priority projects, providing critical analysis and quality assurance. Advise and support government agencies on policy and negotiation strategies. Facilitate coordination of future act matters across agencies. Qualifications & Experience Strong experience with the Native Title Act (Cth) and related state legislation. Proven ability to develop and negotiate whole of government solutions. Experience leading and implementing contemporary and responsive policy relating to native title future act matters. Leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to liaise, negotiate, and consult with a range of stakeholders. Two-page cover letter detailing experience, skills, and knowledge in: High-level experience in developing and implementing policy and projects relevant to the Native Title Act future act framework. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise, negotiate and consult with stakeholders. Proof of identity and a satisfactory National Police Certificate issued by the Western Australian Police Force (less than two months old).
