Lead Designer

Klaro is a visual, AI-powered workspace for numbers. We help people make better decisions through numerical thinking. Some customers describe us as Notion for numbers We’re well funded and backed by top Australian investors (Blackbird, OIF, SSV) You’ll join us early, with real influence over product, design, and culture Klaro is building the world best interface for numbers. This, by in large, is a design problem. Your role will be vital to our success About the Role You’ll be the first designer beyond the founder. Your voice will define our design language and design culture 90% of your work is product design. But given your lead role, you’ll also steer the brand and tone of voice You’ll own projects end-to-end: discovery, UX, UI, interaction, and design systems You’ll work directly with the engineering team to solve problems and ship product. Together with the founder you will also partner with domain experts and freelancers for any outside designer help you two deem required This role is AI-native: We expect you to use AI tools and methods to accelerate design workflows, prototype faster, and explore new creative directions Responsibilities Product & UX Design Lead design from problem definition through launch Simplify complex data workflows into intuitive experiences Design interaction flows, states, transitions, and micro-interactions Leverage AI tools (e.g. for ideation, layout, content, or testing) User Research & Strategy Conduct interviews, usability testing, and feedback loops Use insights to validate product direction and design hypotheses Translate metrics, research, and qualitative data into design decisions Design Systems & Visual Identity Build and evolve a scalable design system Maintain consistency, accessibility, and usability Present design rationale to the team (engineers, founders, etc) Seek and give feedback actively Brand & Marketing (Occasional) Support visual collateral, marketing campaigns, and brand materials. Work with freelancers or external partners. Culture & Growth Help establish design culture, processes, and norms Push boundaries in how AI can augment design thinking Potential to grow the Design team (from a strategy, craft and people perspective) as we grow Stay curious: push the bar in craft, tools, and workflows Who You Are / What You Bring 5+ years of product design experience Strong portfolio showcasing craft, interaction design, and systems thinking Experienced using AI tools in creative workflows (Figma AI, Midjourney, Cursor, etc) Self-motivated, fast-moving, and comfortable with ambiguity Clear communicator and collaborative partner Tools / Stack Figma primary for design Linear for shipping product Cursor, Bolt, Lovable for prototyping Webflow for marketing / site If you have opinions about the stack we are totally open to changing and augmenting it. We have no strong preferences other than Figma and Linear for product work.
