City of Melbourne, Österreich Catapult Sports Vollzeit

Test Engineer The Catapult mission is to improve the performance of athletes and teams by engineering the premier technology platform for sport. We have been at the forefront of sports technology and science since 2006, helping athletes and coaches “play smart” in a world where 1 % can mean the difference between winning and losing. We work with over 4,600 teams worldwide, providing the information needed to optimise athletes’ health, performance and in‑game tactics through wearable technology, video analytics and athlete monitoring solutions. About the role Based in Melbourne, you will be a key player in the Research & Development team that designs the wearable tracking hardware Catapult is famous for. Reporting to the Principal Test Engineer / Team Lead, you will create test procedures, develop automated test harnesses, detect and report issues, and work with development engineers to resolve issues. What you’ll do Develop frameworks, test harnesses and scripts to test firmware algorithms, Edge Computing applications, and IoT back‑ends. Develop and implement test strategies, plans, and cases for new and existing features. Write testing infrastructure/tools/automation components that are reliable, debugged, well documented and safe for reuse. Adopt test automation frameworks and aggressively automate test processes. Promote innovation, drive best practice and contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and methodologies. Monitor and report on testing progress, defect trends and overall quality metrics. Analyse and interpret logging and diagnostic information; isolate and report issues using bug‑tracking software. Collaborate closely with tech leads, product managers and stakeholders to align on priorities, trade‑offs and risk, influencing product design to improve testability. Actively contribute to engineering processes, design meetings and code reviews to continuously improve quality. Build and maintain strong relationships with test engineering peers across firmware and software teams to coordinate effort and align on common test frameworks and tools. Stay up‑to‑date with industry best practices and emerging technologies in software and firmware testing. Participate in a test engineering “chapter” where best practice is shared among test engineers within the business. Occasionally provide technical support to customers (including weekends or after‑hours). What you’ll need Formal qualifications in electronics or software engineering. At least 3 years of firmware testing experience. At least 2 years experience with the Python programming language. Experience with IoT technologies (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure). Knowledge of Linux operating systems. Knowledge of common wireless communications technologies such as BLE, Wi‑Fi and UWB. Experience with Git code management. Strong opinion on test automation frameworks and tools. Proficiency in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for user, technical and product team engagement. Organisational and time‑management skills to prioritise and meet deadlines. High motivation, accountability, initiative, scientific rigor and diligence. Energetic, “can‑do” approach to problem solving with an eye for detail. Ability to work swiftly in a fast‑paced environment with minimal specifications. Mindset that connects testing to customer value. Experience with electronics measuring equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, multimeters) highly desired. Experience with TestRail, Atlassian defect tracking platform, Rust or willingness to learn highly desired. Why Catapult? We have amazing people – you deserve to work with some of the most ambitious and intelligent people in an exciting industry.
