Overview Make Someones Weekend Join Our Volunteer Team Looking for a meaningful way to spend your weekend? The HammondCare Volunteer Program offers a special opportunity to bring joy, connection, and companionship to older people in the Hunter community. Whether you love sports, art, gardening, pets, baking, yoga, music, movies, or simply a good chat over coffee you can share your passions with someone who will truly appreciate them. As a Weekend Volunteer Social Visitor, you’ll spend time one-on-one or in small groups with residents in a care home, offering genuine connection and heartfelt moments that brighten their day and yours. Give just a little of your weekend, and make a lasting difference in someone's life. Please note: Volunteer interviews and orientation must take place on a weekday during business hours. Your impact Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated. HammondCare HammondCare is a provider of The Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme funded by the Australian Government and is established to promote links between elderly people and volunteers in their local community. HammondCare is an independent Christian charity and we're passionate about improving the quality of life for people in need. We have a wonderful group of volunteers that partner with us to enhance the lives of people cared for by HammondCare. Category Seniors & Aged Care Commitment Regular - more than 6 months Type Of Work Companionship & Social Support Seniors & Aged Care Time Required We're looking for friendly weekend volunteers to provide one-hour visits between 9:30am-12:00pm or 1:00-4:00pm on Saturdays or Sundays. If weekends don’t suit, we are happy to discuss weekday options to organise visits any day between 9:00am and 4:00pm, and can be weekly or fortnightly depending on your availability. Please note: Volunteer interviews and orientation must take place on a weekday during business hours. Training Training is provided as well as ongoing support by a local Volunteer Coordinator. We offer an extensive training program, including an NDIS module so you will be well equipped as a volunteer. Be careful - Don’t provide your bank or credit card details when applying for jobs.
