This role offers an opportunity to work directly with vulnerable families across Whitehorse City Council to enhance parent‑child interaction, promote early childhood learning, and build strong community connections. Responsibilities Plan, implement and facilitate engaging Supported Playgroups, incorporating the evidence‑based Smalltalk parenting strategies. Provide essential In‑Home Support/Coaching to eligible families, building their confidence in supporting their child’s development. Actively recruit families, manage enrolments, and develop strategic referral pathways with local community services. Conduct administration, reporting, and strategic program planning to ensure compliance and quality service delivery. Work Pattern and Benefits Full‑time hours (Mon‑Fri) during the approximately 40 weeks of Victorian school terms to ensure consistent service delivery. Guaranteed holidays – extended, guaranteed time off during school holiday periods, including accrued annual leave, public holidays and scheduled non‑working days. Salary stability – the 0.9 FTE salary is paid consistently every fortnight, providing financial stability year‑round, whether working or on a scheduled break. About you To be successful you must have well‑developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a diverse range of families, other professionals and team members. You must work autonomously and efficiently to meet key deliverables, and possess relevant qualifications and experience in facilitating parenting groups. Key Selection Criteria Qualifications & Smalltalk expertise – tertiary qualifications in early education and care services, family support, social work or equivalent at Diploma level or above, or an equivalent combination of training and experience; must have completed the Parenting Research Centre (PRC) Smalltalk program, or be willing to complete the program. Program implementation & evaluation – demonstrated experience in planning, implementing, administering and evaluating supported playgroups or similar social support programmes. In‑home support delivery – demonstrated experience delivering In‑home Support programmes and practices. Communication & interpersonal skills – highly developed interpersonal skills, including excellent written and oral communication, particularly in engaging respectfully with vulnerable and diverse families. Strategic & organisational skills – demonstrated strategic planning, organisation and time‑management skills, using data for continuous programme optimisation.
