The Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation is seeking an exceptional AO6 Senior Communications Officer for a permanent role. You’ll be part of a talented and supportive team dedicated to developing innovative and impactful strategies that deliver on the department’s vision of a thriving environment and economy for all Queenslanders. You’ll work on diverse and meaningful topics, and produce bold, evidence‑based communication in partnership with our business units. We’re looking for someone who has experience developing communication strategies, is solutions‑focused and can build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Purpose This role is instrumental in developing communication strategies across multiple communication channels. In addition, this role develops material for the department's online channels including websites, engagement platforms, social media and electronic direct mail as well as advertisements, brochures, factsheets, reports etc. This role is responsible for incorporating targeted communications approaches into departmental communication strategies and activities, and liaising with internal business units to develop key messages and appropriate content for delivery via these channels. The role As the Senior Communications Officer, you will: Develop and implement communication strategies and activities for delivery across a range of communication channels. Research, write and edit a range of communications materials. Undertake research and acquire knowledge of communications best practice and emerging trends. Project‑manage communication projects adhering to client specifications, budget and departmental priorities and timelines. Provide specialist communications support and advice to internal and external clients. Establish and maintain communication networks with both internal and external clients including executive management, regional and divisional offices. Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.
