About the role The Senior Maternal & Child Health (MCH) Nurse Adviser provides expert MCH nursing and Early Parenting Centre (EPC) clinical advice to support performance, project management and system improvement functions for the Maternal & Child Health and Early Parenting (MCHEP) Unit at the Department of Health. The role will work on strategic projects across teams – including the Maternal & Child Health (MCH) Line, MCH program and systems management and the Early Parenting Centre (EPC) expansion. The role will be responsible for ensuring contemporary statewide MCH and EPC clinical and program guidance supports the quality and consistency of service delivery, whilst allowing flexibility to meet local community need. The role will use their specialist MCH and EPC clinical expertise to inform other strategic projects including the MCH system replacement project and improvement opportunities emerging from the Victorian MCH Advisory Group and MCH Consumer Partner Group About us At the Victorian Department of Health we want a future where Victorians are the healthiest people in the world. How you''ll make a difference As a MCH and EPC Specialist, you will be relied on for expertise and advice in this field. Provide strong and accessible clinical MCH nursing and EPC leadership and promote quality and safety. Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate a partnership approach including Safer Care Victoria (SCV), Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) and Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV). Provide highly effective advice and leadership to support the EPC expansion project and the continuum of services across MCH line, MCH program delivery and MCH system management. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to prepare and present high quality statewide MCH and EPC clinical, workforce, program and system guidance. Accountable for work organisation and delivery of end-to-end projects and outputs in required timeframes. Ensure operations and practice initiatives meet the department's strategic directions for managing and delivering high quality child, family and early parenting services. Contribute to service development and design and implementation of new initiatives and policy. Identify and encourage approaches for continuous improvement and guidance on achieving optimal outcomes for children, parents and families. Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements. Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
