An exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to provide clinical expertise in Hepatitis B in the role of Clinical Nurse Consultant. The position is temporary part time, and will assess, manage, educate and monitor patients with chronic Hepatitis B infection (CHB) and its complications. Where you'll be working The service provides a clinical service for patients with educational and telemedicine advice for referring medical practitioners and health care workers. The Hepatology service has developed an integrated framework with other NSLHD stakeholders including primary health networks, population health and primary community health (Drug & Alcohol services, HARP, Sexual health, Harm immunisation/needle exchange) and NSLHD Indigenous health services. What you'll be doing Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) Hepatology Services provides a comprehensive service to assess, manage, educate and monitor patients with chronic Hepatitis B infection (CHB) and its complications. The service provides a clinical service for patients with educational and telemedicine advice for referring medical practitioners and health care workers. The Hepatology service has developed an integrated framework with other NSLHD stakeholders including primary health networks, population health and primary community health (Drug & Alcohol services, HARP, Sexual health, Harm immunisation/needle exchange) and NSLHD Indigenous health services to facilitate: HBV Screening and Prevention strategies HBV clinical assessment and treatment programs HBV Complication screening and management programs HBV special population programs HBV education programs for primary health networks and health care workers The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert nurse who will provide leadership, advice and recommendations on all aspects of nursing and consults on matters relating to the safe and appropriate use of nursing practices. The CNC will formulate and implement policy, guide practice development, and engage in education and research activities. The CNC is responsible for the provision of clinical supervision to nursing staff and acts as a role model, providing nursing care on a regular basis. People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply. Candidates will need to meet the following criteria: Registered with Authority to Practice with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Minimum five years full time post graduate experience with 3 years full time equivalent in the specialty field. In addition the applicant must have an approved post graduate qualification (minimum Grad Diploma/Certificate level) or evidence of working towards Masters level qualification. Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework. Demonstrated ability to undertake quality improvement and research activities that influence and enhance clinical practice and implement change. Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently. The team enriching health in millions of ways every day.
