Coogee Common is a unique garden-to-plate restaurant, bar, and community hub set on the grounds of the heritage-listed Coogee Hotel. We operate on a two-acre organic market garden, complete with a berry patch, orchard, beehives, and more. Our culinary philosophy revolves around fresh, seasonal produce — most of which we grow ourselves — combined with ethically sourced ingredients from local farmers and producers. We pride ourselves on sustainability, community, and a relaxed but high-quality dining experience. Role Overview As a Chef de Partie at Coogee Common, you will have a hands‑on role in delivering seasonal, garden-driven dishes. You will lead a station (or two), mentor junior cooks, and help ensure that our menu reflects the daily harvest from our garden. You’ll work in a collaborative kitchen environment, with a commitment to clean, ethical food production, and you will contribute to maintaining Coogee Common’s reputation as a premier farm-to-table destination. Key Responsibilities Run your station efficiently during service (lunch and dinner) Prepare dishes that highlight seasonal produce from our garden and local suppliers Assist with menu development, particularly around seasonal specials Supervise and train commis chefs / kitchen staff Monitor food quality, portioning, plating, and consistency Maintain strict hygiene standards and food safety compliance Help manage stock levels, including inventory of garden produce and kitchen staples Collaborate with the garden / farm team to understand what produce is available and how best to use it Contribute to kitchen clean‑down, ordering, and prep tasks as required Skills & Experience Proven experience as a Chef de Partie (or similar role) in a restaurant environment Solid understanding of seasonal and sustainable cooking Experience working with fresh produce, ideally sourced from a garden or local suppliers Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure Leadership or mentoring experience, with good communication skills Knowledge of food safety and HACCP standards A passion for sustainable food, ethical sourcing, and community-focused dining Personal Attributes Creative, with an eye for plating and presentation Respectful of seasonal cycles and resource constraints Team player — willing to roll up your sleeves and help where needed Aligned with Coogee Common’s ethos of sustainability, community, and garden-to-plate food What We Offer Competitive salary / hourly rate (specify) Opportunities for professional development and growth A unique working environment: garden-to-plate philosophy, working closely with our on-site garden team Meals on shift / staff discounts A beautiful heritage venue and strong community connection #J-18808-Ljbffr
