The Department of Health and Aged Care (the department) is seeking a highly experienced Solution Architect to play a critical role in the design and implementation of technology solutions
that support the implementation of corporate and business ICT services required for the
Departments Modern Workplace Program.
The Solution Architect will play a key role in designing, implementing, and overseeing specific technology solutions whilst complying with the departments architecture design and security
practices. These positions require creative problem-solvers with strong analytical and technical
backgrounds.
The Solution Architect will be responsible for the development of the technology solutions that support the Modern Workplace Program by mapping business requirements to systems/technical
solutions to ensure ICT Services are in line with the departments enterprise architecture and
needs of the business.
Deliverables
The Deliverables for the Solution Architect include, but are not limited to the following:
Solution Design: Design and develop technology solutions that align with the Programs objectives and requirements whilst also complying with Departments architecture and
security frameworks and practices.Architecture Documentation: Create and maintain detailed architecture documentation, including diagrams, technical specifications, and guidelines for the implementation and
integration of solutions.Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Work closely with stakeholders, including business units, project managers, and Technology specialists, to understand requirements
and translate them into effective, scalable, and secure technology solutions.Technology Evaluation & Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and platforms that best suit the specific needs of business whilst complying with Healths
design and security frameworks.Integration & Interoperability: Propose solutions that seamlessly integrate new with old, identify and document paths to uplift legacy systems (where required), promoting
interoperability and data exchange between different platforms and applications.Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure that proposed solutions meet internal and external design and security practices, policies, standards and frameworks and have the
appropriate approvals as per internal governance procedures.Advisory & Support: Provide technical guidance and support to both the Program and the department throughout the lifecycle of the projects.
Qualifications and skills:
Proven experience (5 years) working as a Solution Architect or in a similar senior technology design role.Strong knowledge of architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) and methodologies.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively,engage and influence with diverse stakeholders.In-depth understanding of software development methodologies, system design, and integration practices.In-depth understanding of current ICT regulatory and compliance requirements.Demonstrated experience in facilitation of workshops involving a range of participants including senior management, technical staff, and business users.Experience with enterprise design tools (e.g., Sparx Enterprise Architect) desirable.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Additional desirable skills:
Qualifications in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.Expert knowledge in Microsoft Azure or Microsoft 365 technologies.Experience in SIEM/SOAR technologies, such as Microsoft Sentinel.Certification in Enterprise Architecture (e.g., TOGAF certification).Experience in cloud architecture and big data solutions, in a healthcare context.Experience working within an Agile program team.Familiarity with government or public sector organisational structures and processes.Familiarity with SASE based networking solutions.What to submitFor each candidate, you must include:start datehourly rateresponses to selection criteriaresumésreferences
