Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities – MacGregor State High School Queensland Department of Education invites applications for the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities role at MacGregor State High School. About the Role As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities, you will play a vital role in maintaining the school's environment to a high standard. You will report directly to the Principal, Business Manager, or a nominated delegate. Your duties include routine and non‑routine tasks to ensure the school remains a safe, clean, and welcoming space for students, staff, and visitors. While working independently on day‑to‑day activities, you will collaborate with others to support school operations and events. Key Responsibilities Maintain school grounds and gardens, including mowing, watering, weeding, planting, and general upkeep. Assist with the set‑up and pack‑down for school events, exams, and assemblies. Perform basic repairs and maintenance to furniture, fixtures, and equipment within non‑trade scope. Support school security by locking/unlocking buildings and monitoring systems. Operate and maintain grounds care equipment safely, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards. About You A strong work ethic and dedication to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment. Hands‑on experience in groundskeeping or general maintenance, preferably in a school or similar setting. Ability to work independently and follow established procedures effectively. Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with staff, students, and tradespeople. Understanding of workplace health and safety practices and procedures.
