Non-Executive Director – Clinical or Legal Specialist – 12-month Board appointment (eligible for election for a 3-year term) Join MiCare to apply for the Non-Executive Director – Clinical or Legal Specialist role. MiCare is a not-for-profit organisation that provides aged care, home care, retirement living and migrant support services, with a strong focus on culturally appropriate care and community connection. We are looking to expand our Board and are seeking a Clinical and Legal Specialist to complement our existing Board members. Key Responsibilities Set strategic direction to ensure services remain person-centred, accessible, connected, effective and safe Participate in Board and Committee meetings, contributing expertise to robust and constructive discussions Provide oversight of organisational performance and financial sustainability Champion inclusive, culturally safe and psychologically safe environments for staff, clients and communities Support continuous improvement, innovation and best practice in governance, quality and risk Represent MiCare in the community, including events and service visits Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to Board evaluation and succession planning Who We're Looking For Clinical health or legal expertise with a focus on aged care Ethical, independent decision-making Ability to interpret financial reports and understand governance frameworks Proven ability to foster equitable, safe and inclusive culture Willingness to question, challenge, and contribute collectively Empathy, strong communication, and respectful engagement Business acumen and alignment with MiCare's mission Required background checks include Police Check, Working with Children, NDIS Worker Screening, Aged Care Banning Orders. Current and active membership of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) or equivalent, with willingness to complete relevant governance training, is mandatory. Preferred Experience & Skills Previous Board or governance experience in not-for-profit or related sectors Clinical experience with particular emphasis on aged care Legal experience with a focus on aged care Experience in governance, quality and risk Stakeholder engagement or business development skills Compensation and Benefits Fortnightly Board remuneration + superannuation Access to EAP and Flare Benefits Scheme Opportunity to influence strategic direction and community outcomes A collaborative, values-driven governance environment Monthly time commitment of hours including bi-monthly Board meetings (two in-person events in Melbourne) and bi-monthly Board Committee meetings.
