Event and Systems Manager at Wild Canary Wild Canary is seeking a skilled, calm, and motivated Sous Chef to join our botanical bistro set within the beautiful Brookfield Gardens. We’re a busy breakfast and lunch venue , we also host select private evening events and weddings. This position is hands‑on and leadership focused. You’ll work closely with our experienced and supportive Head Chef , ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly day‑to‑day while maintaining high standards, efficient systems, and a positive team culture. About Wild Canary Wild Canary is a botanically inspired bistro known for fresh, local, seasonal produce and a warm, professional hospitality style. We’re an established and respected venue with a talented team, exciting event offerings, and a strong commitment to growth, creativity, and quality. Role Responsibilities Lead day-to-day kitchen operations Run the pass during busy breakfast and lunch service Oversee prep systems, organization, and consistency Manage ordering, stock levels, and supplier relationships Uphold food safety and compliance Train, support, and mentor the kitchen team Contribute to seasonal menu development Maintain waste management and portion control Ideal Background Experienced Chef de Partie ready to step up, or a Sous Chef seeking a well‑structured, quality‑focused role Strong organizational skills and prep systems Positive leader with excellent communication Calm under pressure and committed to high standards Café/bistro or brunch experience highly regarded What We Offer Daytime roster (approx. 6:30am–3pm) with occasional events A supportive, talented, and collaborative team Professional development and growth opportunities Beautiful garden setting that inspires creativity A well‑run, respected venue with strong systems Work/life balance with minimal late nights Full‑time Day‑based roster How to Apply Please apply with your CV and a brief introduction outlining your kitchen leadership experience.
