Prepare, season, and cook different foods as per the menu and customer orders. Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment. Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc). Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene. Communicate orders of equipment or ingredients according to identified shortages. Receiving, storing, stock segregation, and keep records of foodstuffs used. Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently. Use methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing cooked food with utensil. Portion, arrange and garnish food, and place in different platters. Supervise and manage junior cooks and kitchen staff. Qualification & experience The right to work in Australia. Certificate III in commercial cookery in relevant field or have extensive work experience as a cook focused on Indian culinary/cuisine. Minimum of one year of work experience. Have the ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. A passion for excellent quality food, produce and service. Be reliable, punctual, and hard working. Have strong communication skills. Be able to maintain kitchen procedures and WHS standards.
