St George Hospital - Clinical Midwifery Consultant 3 - Risk Management & Practice Development Maternity Services - Temporary Full Time Join to apply for the St George Hospital - Clinical Midwifery Consultant 3 - Risk Management & Practice Development Maternity Services - Temporary Full Time role at NSW Health Employment Details Employment Type : Temporary Full Time until 21 January 2027 Position Classification : Clinical Midwife Consultant Grade 3 Remuneration : $143,851.10 - $146,522.64 per annum plus Superannuation Hours Per Week : 38 Applications Close : 23 November 2025 The Role The Maternity Risk Management & Practice Development Clinical Midwife Consultant (CMC) will work in collaboration with relevant clinicians and managers to provide leadership and direction in response to clinical incidents and be responsible for the overarching management of clinical governance within Maternity Services at St George Hospital. The CMC will also lead, support and implement practice development changes across the service. The CMC will promote, review and measure clinical risk across maternity services, undertake relevant quality activities, review and develop local high risk policies and guidelines, work in close liaison with Maternity Unit Managers, CMC/CNC's, Educators and the Obstetric Lead for clinical risk, and lead relevant local, District, State and National Maternity initiatives. Selection Criteria Current authority to practice as a Registered Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and completed or working towards Post Graduate Masters qualifications in a relevant field of practice. Demonstrated experience and understanding of midwifery models of care that optimizes continuity of care. Demonstrated clinical expertise and senior leadership experience within a maternity service, including an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework. Demonstrated experience leading and implementing a project or large scaled initiative within maternity services. Demonstrated high level advanced communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and proven ability to write for a variety of documents. Demonstrated experience and understanding of the clinical governance requirements of a maternity service. Demonstrated experience governing the clinical incident management system for maternity services, including the ability to lead clinical incident reviews, provide open disclosure to families and feedback to staff. Experience using various IT platforms including eMR, and proficiency with eMaternity Maternity Information System (MIS). Demonstrated extensive midwifery experience in a tertiary acute care facility.
