Metal Machinist – Rides & Attractions Maintenance Location: Aussie World Theme Park, Palmview QLD Employment Type: Full-time Salary: $75,000 to $80,000 per annum plus super The Metal Machinist is responsible for the machining, fabrication, repair, and restoration of metal components used on Aussie World’s rides and attractions. This role supports the safe and reliable operation of high-risk amusement devices by ensuring that mechanical parts—such as shafts, bushings, pins, brackets, linkages, housings, and structural fittings—are repaired and maintained to exact tolerances. Tasks and Duties Create, modify, and repair metal parts to precise tolerances using a range of machining and fabrication equipment such as lathes, grinding machines and ancillary workshop equipment. Create and repair components such as shafts, pins, bushings, gears, rollers, brackets, wear plates, guards, and custom fittings for rides and attractions. Recondition worn or damaged parts to restore them to safe working condition. Undertake measuring, marking, machining, fitting, and finishing tasks to achieve required dimension accuracy and surface finishes. Work collaboratively with Engineers and Fitters to troubleshoot mechanical issues and design appropriate machining solutions. Assist Fitters, Electricians, and Engineers during breakdowns and ride overhauls by producing replacement parts quickly and accurately. Participate in major refurbishments, upgrades, shutdowns, and commissioning projects requiring custom machining or metalwork. Support root-cause investigations by assessing wear, fatigue, corrosion, misalignment, and structural issues in metal components. Skills & Experience Essential Trade qualification as a Metal Machinist, Mechanical Fitter/Machinist, or equivalent. At least 5 years of work experience. Strong competency operating manual machining equipment. Ability to machine using lathes, mills, grinders, and related workshop tools. Experience machining steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass, plastics, and other engineering materials. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and produce accurate work. Desirable Experience maintaining heavy machinery, amusement rides, mining, manufacturing, or industrial plant. Basic welding and fabrication skills (MIG/TIG/ARC). Familiarity with maintenance management systems (e.g., Mobaro, MEX). Experience in regulated industries or with Safety Case–style frameworks.
