Business Lismore is an award winning chamber of commerce and is Lismore’s peak business body. We exist to progress the profile of all businesses, the community and Lismore, because strong businesses positively impact the community. Successful businesses ensure a thriving economy which ultimately improves the lives of every individual within our community. Our goal is to be the most effective business support and advocacy organisation for Lismore and the surrounds; fostering growth, connections and success across all businesses and sectors. We work with all levels of government – local, state and federal and we represent our members on a range of forums and working groups as diverse as flood management, safety, employment issues, CBD activation, disability, and affordable housing. All issues that impact investment in the 2480 LGA. We also provide updates to groups including RDA Northern Rivers, and are able to provide letters of support for grant applications, speak at Council meetings in support of DA’s and represent members in media interviews. Lismore leads the region in many areas such as education, medicine, culture and arts, law, finance and construction. It has the largest workforce and the highest median income on the far north coast making it the powerhouse of local economies. The local business community has shown continual strength and resilience as it continues to grow. We won Best Regional Chamber and then went on to win ‘Outstanding Local Chamber’ at the Business NSW State Awards in November 2022. A highlight for the year The Role: We are looking for an Executive Officer to provide support of the day to day running of the Chamber. You will report directly to the President of the Chamber and work with the board to execute on our strategy. This role is the right hand to the board, the person that ensures that everything actually gets done. This is the perfect role for someone who loves business, is extremely organised, loves events, but above all loves to connect with people and build community. This is a very exciting opportunity for someone who wants to be a big part of the Lismore business community. This is a part time role of 15-20 hours a week and can be flexible in terms of school hours. About you: You have experience in a similar role or have run your own business. You have a business qualification (Degree or certificate). You have a passion for helping business and building community. You are well organised with a high attention to detail and excellent time management skills. You are able to manage relationships and communication to get the desired result. You get things done quicker and more effectively than others. You thrive on a challenge. You can think outside the box. You are able to thrive in a fast-paced high-volume work environment. You have a proven ability to connect with people and build strong relationships. You are self-driven. You have a professional friendly phone manner with a genuine interest in providing good customer service. You possess a can-do attitude with a flexible work approach and always willing to find a solution. You are tech savvy, including experience with Xero, Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Twitter, Outlook and the Microsoft Office Suite. You have a willingness to cooperatively work with others but can also work autonomously. You have grit and determination. You are a genuine and honest person. You are humble in your approach. You value fun in your life and in the workplace. Key Responsibilities: Manage daily administrative operations such as answer the telephone, schedule appointments, initiate and reply to emails, maintain all office supplies. Manage all chamber business correspondence, picking up the mail and making bank deposits as per the president and treasurer. Process new memberships and manage membership renewals. Keep accurate records of memberships. Manage and run all chamber events, including evening events. Book event space and requirements. Organise event attendance and sponsors where needed. Correspond with members, speakers, sponsors and volunteers regarding chamber events and activity. Create new ideas and services to support the growth of the local chamber business community. Actively engage with the membership and have a current understanding of the general mood and opinion of the wider membership Effectively communicate with the membership on current issues facing the local business community Support the president and the board with tasks that may be assigned that have not been listed as part of the “job description.” Be responsible for taking the initiative for completing the tasks once asked You will ensure members are up to date with local and regional information relevant to the business community. Maintain and build Chamber/ Business relationships, increase membership and provide support to local businesses. Add new members to our accounting program (Xero). Invoicing, Accounts receivable, accounts payable and process payments. Manage our website and booking platform. Create and send all chamber newsletters and reminders to our database. Manage our social media accounts, create content and post regularly. Create press releases,you may need to handle media interviews and comment in place of Executive when required and act as LCC representative in council working groups, community consultation panels etcif required. Research and apply to relevant funding grants. Approach, establish and maintain strategic relationships with local members and Government representatives, key stakeholders and agencies Research and read relevant documentation relating to Council activities and economic development in relevant LGA in order to adequately act as representative in said situations. #J-18808-Ljbffr
