Connecting with a range of audiences, all the way from pig farmers to pork consumers, APL is constantly pursuing opportunities to sustainably grow, protect and increase consumption of Australian pork.Explore the OpportunityWe have an opportunity for someone to join us as General Manager Research and Innovation. Reporting to the CEO, the primary objective of this position is to lead the Research and Innovation portfolio to ensure attainment of research, development and extension (RD&E) goals that meet the current and future needs of the Australian pork industry.Here's a snapshot of your key responsibilities: -Contribute as a member of the leadership team in organisational strategic planning and development, management and decision making that delivers the organisational strategy and objectives.Create and deliver a portfolio of research that fulfills both immediate and true market failure (high risk: high reward) industry R&D needs.Connect the R&I team to collaborate with internal, industry, international, governmental (and other RDC’s) and commercial networks of innovators targeting objectives similar to APL.Drive APL’s research and innovation framework – lead the team to identify, document, measure and report research and innovation outcomes on APL’s priority issues.Report research and innovation intelligence, evolution and insight in ways that result in clear recommendations for improving APL & industry’s positions.Provide leadership to staff in the Research and Innovation portfolio including managing performance and delivering objectives and KPI outcomes.Cultivate ideas and innovative approaches within the Research and Innovation portfolio and with key stakeholders.Contribute to a positive team environment.Our Wish ListTo be great at this role, you'll have a minimum of 5 years experience in a relevant field and have proven experience leading a team. You'll also have: -Highly practiced proven delivery of science-based R&D program outcomes through strong team leadership and development.Advanced interrogation skills, particularly of research methods to evaluate whether the research can deliver the desired outcome.
