Community Corrections Manager | Broken Hill NSW Department of Communities and Justice – Broken Hill NSW Community Corrections Manager Broken Hill Location – Broken Hill, Western NSW Employment type – Ongoing, Full-time Salary – $129,464 - $142,665 per annum plus superannuation and leave loading We are seeking an ethical and transformational leader to join the Western District to lead the Broken Hill Community Corrections team for a minimum period of two (2) years. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced Manager to lead a progressive and dynamic team in one of Australia's most famous outback towns. About Us Broken Hill community Corrections is a small team that services the greatest geographical span of any office in the state. The team holds a community caseload, along with managing the parole unit attached to the Broken Hill Correctional Centre. The team consists of staff with varying degrees of experience and due to the nature of the location they have learnt to be flexible and creative when delivering service. This ingenuity expands to community service, programs and remote reporting. Broken Hill offers both unique geographical challenges and breathtaking local scenery, situated within the traditional lands of the Wilyakali people, our Broken Hill office acknowledges and pays respect to the Wilyakali as the traditional custodians of this region. Your role We are looking for a present, transparent, and consistent leader who works collaboratively with the team showing empathy and strong boundaries. We are looking for someone who has a genuine understanding of the complexities of working in remote and isolated conditions. You must demonstrate ability to build strong community partnerships especially with Aboriginal community and you will have experience in leading a complex office with a multi‑disciplinary team. Additional five days recreation leave (applies to the successful candidate based in Broken Hill indefinitely). What You’ll Do Provide highly effective leadership and management to a multidisciplinary team in order to drive implementation and achieve required service delivery outcomes. Manage an office / hub of multi‑skilled staff including, but not limited to, Unit Leaders, Community Corrections Officers and administration staff to achieve optimal performance consistent with Community Corrections Standards, Key Performance Indicators and Service Delivery Standards. Manage and/or oversight of caseloads, resourcing and manage budget to ensure effective service delivery and quality standards are maintained. Coach and mentor staff, provide constructive feedback and facilitate ongoing professional development through a performance and development framework to result in a professional, empowering and respectful culture. Provide high level strategic advice and support to office staff, other Community Corrections managers, directors and the District Leadership Team to meet service delivery outcomes in a consistent way. Lead and drive quality work performance and continuous improvement strategies in order to deliver objectives within time frames, budget and quality standards within a smaller Community Corrections office / hub. Manage the business requirements related to service delivery of a diverse offender base which is subject to different legislative requirements, including electronic monitoring, domestic violence, multi‑agency interface and/or the other diverse functional / operational programs. Lead operational stakeholder engagement, consultation and negotiation; and recommend solutions that support service delivery and organisational objectives. Be employed as a Community Corrections Officer, within the meaning of the Crimes (Administration of Sentences) Act 1999, and perform the functions (including the powers, authorities and duties) of a Community Corrections Officer from time to time as required. What We’re Looking For Strong leadership skills, including engaging and motivating staff, and previous experience in providing professional supervision, development and coaching. Flexible and resilient, to respond to the varied demands of a Community Corrections Office and manage complex and higher risk offenders. Skills and confidence to provide clear and constructive feedback to promote individual accountability and develop staff capability. Essential Requirements Tertiary qualifications in a human service‑related field (or equivalent experience in frontline human service delivery). Thorough knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice system and contemporary best practice in offender management within Community Corrections. Demonstrated experience in promoting continuous improvement and leading a multidisciplinary team to deliver organisational priorities and quality outcomes. Current driver’s license (with no restrictions). Australia or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident.
