Through a combination of strategic engagement, knowledge management, and impactful communication, we work to deliver maximum value to stakeholders across the energy transition landscape. We take a portfolio approach to Portfolio Insights to ensure that we’re able to collect, analyse and share themes and trends in a way that ensures it is useful to stakeholders, both at the individual project level and the broader industry. Portfolios are based on either a technology, a funding round or a focus area that ARENA has or will invest in. About the position The Portfolio Insights Manager is responsible for generating high-impact portfolio-level insights that inform ARENA strategy development and investment decisions, as well as industry decision making. Sitting within an Impact Team comprised of one or more of ARENA’s strategic priorities and focus areas while connected to the broader Portfolio Insights functional network, this role translates project-level data into meaningful portfolio insights, designs and delivers knowledge products, and shares insights with stakeholders to influence actions aligned with ARENA’s mission. The Portfolio Insights Manager role can be located in Melbourne, Canberra or Sydney. Responsibilities Collaborate closely with the Strategy team to develop strategic plans to deliver impactful insights. Translate detailed project and technical information into clear, impactful portfolio insights aligned with ARENA’s objectives. Influence industry and policy stakeholders by designing and delivering portfolio insights products (e.g. studies, roundtables, webinar, forums). Inform ARENA teams with targeted insights derived from project portfolio. Collaborate with the Investment team to advise on knowledge sharing aspects of ARENA-Funded projects, including developing knowledge sharing plans. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Contribute to culture, performance, and delivery of the Impact Team. Collaborate closely with other Portfolio Insights Managers across Impact Teams to ensure consistency, coherence in ARENA view, and shared learning. Mentor junior staff and foster capability in generating and delivering portfolio insights. Maintain a credible and informed perspective on your core topic area, that complements the Impact Team strategic direction and enhances effective delivery of Portfolio Insights activities. Design and deliver knowledge products that inform industry and policy, influencing actions aligned with Australia’s renewable energy transition. Work within a cross-functional Impact Team and across the Portfolio Insights network to ensure coherence and shared learning. Advise on Knowledge Sharing Plans, ensuring funded projects contribute to sector-wide learning. Build strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to amplify ARENA’s impact. Grow your knowledge and position yourself as a trusted advisor within ARENA and the broader industry. What we are looking for Knowledge and experience Knowledge and experience in the renewable energy sector is essential. Specific experience in Hydrogen and/or Solar areas is desirable. Demonstrated expertise in generating insights from complex data, research, or project outcomes. Proven ability to lead complex projects or programs related to knowledge sharing, portfolio insights, or renewable energy innovation. Skills and capabilities Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with experience collaborating across teams and influencing external stakeholders. Demonstrated resilience, proactive problem-solving, and capacity to deliver under pressure.
