Case Worker - Housing and Homelessness (Cairns) As part of the Homelessness and Housing team you will directly assist adults who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless or impacted by crisis. You will work closely with colleagues to provide appropriate levels of support and supervision to clients in residence at Q-Home (24/7 39 bed / room site) and Qstride (6 room) Supported Accommodation Services, and help maintain a welcoming, stable, safe, nurturing, trauma informed and culturally affirming environment.You will through a case work framework encourage client feedback and involvement in decision making; share your insights with case workers to help ensure case planning, referral and advocacy efforts reflect client needs, preferences and aspirations and ensure site security, shift duties and administration tasks are kept up to date. To Be Successful You Will Need Tertiary qualifications in Community / Human Services. Prior experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds and in providing support, case work and or practical assistance to people experiencing homelessness and or a crisis. Demonstrated ability to establish rapport with people experiencing homelessness, distress, disconnection from family, domestic/family violence, alcohol or other drug challenges and or mental health issues. Experience in risk assessment, crisis management, incident reporting and skills in navigating solutions to challenges. Ability to coordinate / deliver activities that support development of practical, relational and or tenancy related living skills. Ability to collaborate with homelessness, health and medical services, First Responders and other service providers. Good communication, numeracy, administration, data entry and computer skills and the ability to learn IT systems. Ability (and willingness) to comply with policies, procedures, established practices and contract deliverables. Experience working with First Nations people, families, Organisations and communities. Compliance Evidence of relevant Tertiary Qualifications Community / Human Services Satisfactory outcome of a current (less than 3 months old) National Criminal History Check Blue Card (QLD working with children card) Current QLD drivers’ licence ‘Class C’ or interstate equivalent Out of hours work may be required from time to time Required to transport clients and or to visit clients in their place of residence or within another setting. Ability to undertake local area / regional travel is required. First Aid certificate and CPR certificate. Why work for Anglicare NQ?
