Senior Mechanical Engineer

Bring your engineering expertise to ambitious architecture projects. We have an opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our interdisciplinary design practice. This leadership role would suit someone with 10+ years' experience in engineering and provides the opportunity to work on high-profile operable architecture projects. The role is located on‑site at our Artarmon studio and is ready for someone who can jump in straight away. Key Responsibilities Strong client and stakeholder management; driving all project‑related stages—from concept development, detailed design, procurement, assembly, installation, and commissioning. End‑to‑end delivery of design projects. Management of development and approval of design concepts, specifications and budgets. Preparation of detailed design documentation. Coordination of the design, manufacturing and installation of all project‑related products. Development and management of procurement strategies to improve company operations (payment term negotiations, purchasing strategies). Management of engineers, project schedules, budgets, cash flow, contract administration, design quality assurance, internal meetings and risk management. Ensuring staff resources are managed effectively during project execution, prioritising staff health and safety. Ensuring company project resources are maintained to provide safe, reliable and clean working environments. Management of financial reporting obligations for all projects. Development and management of client/supplier/manufacturer relationships to ensure positive and productive commercial outcomes. Management of project site‑based maintenance, including reactive maintenance and contracted preventative maintenance. Regular participation in industry and business development events. With high energy and a hands‑on approach, you will have a sharp attention to detail, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks. Strong interpersonal skills and a natural ease with client relationships are key for this role, as is the ability to work confidently both independently and within a team. What you need for this role A Degree or higher in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering disciplines. A Degree or higher in related disciplines. A minimum of 10 years' experience in architectural projects, operable architecture, mechanical engineering design or design consultancy with demonstrated ability to deliver large‑scale projects from concept to completion. A team‑oriented and outcome‑focused approach with the ability to work collaboratively on complex projects. Exceptional communication skills (written/verbal) with an ability to present to senior stakeholders. An ability to work autonomously on multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency in either SolidWorks or Onshape for exceptional CAD modelling capabilities. Exceptional understanding of manufacturing and material opportunities.
