Clinical Nurse Consultant Infection Prevention and Control About The Role The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC Level 2) is an expert practitioner who, through leadership, facilitates evidence-based practice. The CNC promotes a service that fosters clinical excellence, research, and professional leadership. The CNC contributes to quality health care by collaborating with health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes. This permanent full‑time role maintains HammondCare’s commitment to upholding stringent infection prevention and control standards across its diverse range of healthcare facilities and services. The successful candidate will lead efforts to prevent and manage healthcare‑associated infections, implement evidence‑based practices, and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement in infection control measures. The role is based at Braeside Hospital in Prairiewood and Neringah Hospital in Wahroonga with flexible consulting to other sites. Responsibilities Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, infection control practitioners, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals. Provide services that facilitate effective management of care in the specialty. Develop policy, staff education and training, surveillance, outbreak investigation, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. About You Current authority to practice as a registered nurse with AHPRA and at least 5 years full‑time equivalent post‑registration experience. Approved postgraduate nursing qualifications relevant to the specialty or other equivalent qualifications or experience. Demonstrated evidence of strategies used to maintain current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research. Ability to apply expert knowledge to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive. Proven communication and engagement skills with patients/consumers, carers, and multidisciplinary teams. Professional interpersonal skills and conflict resolution ability. Critical‑thinking skills related to advanced evidence‑based nursing care. Understanding of risk management, work health and safety, and quality improvement.
