Who We Are Looking For State Street (STT) is looking for an experienced media and public relations professional to join its Global Public Relations team as Assistant Vice President, Public Relations for Asia Pacific. Specializing in media relations, this candidate will be driven and looking to take their career to the next level. They should have solid relationships with top‑tier business and financial trade publications across the Asia Pacific continent and be experienced at proactively pitching complex stories, as well as managing reputational issues. The candidate must be able to work in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing, global environment, demonstrating a ‘client‑service’ approach for our internal stakeholders. They will be outcome‑driven and be skillful at producing reports and analysis that demonstrate results and objectives have been achieved. This candidate will have strong writing and editing skills, be well‑versed in developing media‑engaging social/digital content, well organised and have high attention to detail. Based in Asia Pacific (Australia preferred), this role will focus on developing and executing global PR strategy for State Street across Asia Pacific. The candidate will work closely with the regional and global PR teams, business marketing functions, State Street Asia Pacific leadership and PR agencies on a daily basis to ensure media opportunities for key spokespeople are identified and leveraged, and that all necessary processes and policies are followed. What You Will Be Responsible For Collaborate with colleagues on the internal global PR team, global marketing and external PR agencies to create, refine and deliver differentiated media driven activity in support of the firm’s corporate PR strategy and State Street’s individual business units’ objectives including State Street’s asset management arm, State Street Global Advisors Develop media campaign strategies around the business’ latest thought leadership, including topics such as asset stewardship, retirement, emerging markets, quantitative investing and private credit. Develop or strengthen relationships with global, national and regional press contacts both within our day‑to‑day business. Build collaborative relationships with business stakeholders and partners to align PR strategy with business objectives Independently own programs/campaigns from concept through to execution Compose and edit content including press releases, bylines, talking points, media briefings, social and digital media Support media interactions of business stakeholders at industry conferences What We Value Building differentiated earned media platforms Reputation and issues management Serving as media counselor for senior executives Adept at understanding how to navigate complex industries and large organizations Support with developing executive communications platforms Building and retaining strong relationships with local, trade and national media across Asia Pacific Ability to develop and execute on communications planning and messaging Strong writing, critical thinking and problem‑solving skills Experience developing reports on media metrics and analytics Knowledge of the financial services industry and Fintech knowledge is preferred Strong English language skills, as well as other Asian languages highly desirable Education & Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree Minimum 5-7 years of direct experience in communications, media relations and/or public relations fields with a track record of successful developing relationships with journalists and tier 1 media outlets – print, broadcast and online Ideal candidate will also have experience in banking, financial services and asset management industries with strong relationships with relevant journalists covering the industry in house or previous agency experience Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills Experience with executive PR and media relations programs Ability to create and manage integrated PR/marketing plans and timelines Command of traditional, digital, social and integrated marketing tactics A consummate team player with a can‑do attitude About State Street State Street is one of the largest custodian banks, asset managers and asset intelligence companies in the world.
