Technical Lead

Access Group Australia is the nation's largest privately owned fleet of access equipment. We are seeking a Technical Lead who will take ownership of our ecommerce experience layer and guide it through stabilisation, refinement and continuous improvement. This is a hands‑on leadership role working within our composable stack built on Next.js, Builder.io, Commercetools, Algolia, Vercel and our integration layer. You will lead a small team and set the standards, patterns and operational practices that support the initial launch and then rollout across multiple brands. This is an office‑based role, Monday to Friday, from our Canning Vale corporate office. You will lead the frontend architecture and delivery for our ecommerce platform, including: Next.js codebase and frontend architecture Builder.io component library, content models and reusable patterns Integrations with Commercetools, Algolia and our service bus Performance, reliability, monitoring and operational readiness Contribution to security, quality and release processes Clear documentation of standards and operating practices You will work with existing architecture and improve it over time. Major changes are assessed through our governance process, but the focus is on strengthening what we have, not replacing it without cause. Leadership and delivery In a player‑coach capacity, you will: Lead and mentor a small Philippines‑based team Guide technical planning, pairing and code review Resolve complex issues and lift team capability Support a UI/UX designer with component patterns Collaborate with backend and integration teams Plan and deliver technical work effectively Champion strong QA, DevOps and operational practices Operational excellence You will build and maintain strong operational practices: Monitoring, logging and alerting for customer and staff experiences Release processes using feature flags, canaries and rollbacks Ensure adequate incident response for the frontend layer A clear tech‑debt register and refactor roadmap Post‑incident reviews and preventive improvements People and vendor collaboration Work with vendors as peers and maintain consistency across platforms Communicate trade‑offs clearly with marketing, IT and business leaders Align with backend and integration teams at key boundary points About You You are Pragmatic, calm and steady under pressure Experienced in improving existing systems Skilled at coaching developers and balancing business needs Strong in modern frontend engineering and composable architectures Clear, structured and able to communicate trade‑offs effectively Core technical skills Deep experience with Next.js, React and TypeScript Strong understanding of composable/headless architectures Builder.io or similar CMS experience Commercetools or similar commerce API integration Web performance expertise (Core Web Vitals) Monitoring, alerting and frontend observability CI/CD pipelines and multi‑environment releases Ability to debug at integration boundaries Nice to Have: Algolia, middleware/API gateway experience, Vercel, accessibility, multi‑brand architectures.
