It requires an in-depth knowledge of Aboriginal culture and an ability to communicate with Aboriginal communities. Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply. The Manager Policy leads a fast‑paced team to provide DEECA with expert and authoritative policy analysis, advisory services and leadership to support delivery of Victoria’s Self Determination reform agenda. The successful candidate will set clear policy direction for staff within the team, branch, division and department; coordinate the department’s role in implementing the National Agreement on Closing the Gap; and support and develop policy briefings and recommendations in response to departmental and Traditional Owner priorities. This role will work closely and negotiate with stakeholders across government, and will maintain a team environment that is supportive, inclusive, and characterised by critical thinking, strategic analysis, and excellent systems of work. The successful candidate will also be an active member of the division’s leadership team, working collaboratively to shape divisional culture and support delivery of divisional priorities. Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications Demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge of Aboriginal Culture and contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal Victorians to deliver culturally informed government policies and services. Demonstrated experience in policy development or analysis. This is a fixed term position until 29 January 2027. The work location for this position is Melbourne CBD with hybrid work arrangements available.
