The Role McInnes Wilson (MCW) has a strong reputation in the legal industry as a leader in commercial insurance private clients and plaintiff personal injury legal services. MCW is looking to appoint a Trust Accounting Officer to work within our Finance team and be a key player at the heart of our operations. Based at our national head office a stone's throw from the bustling Riverside precinct you will play a pivotal role within our corporate services function. You will be responsible for assisting with all transactions associated with the firm’s trust account and ensuring compliance across all trust accounting obligations. You will have wonderful exposure to a broad finance function hands‑on support and career development with guidance from our Trust Accounting Manager, Finance Manager and CFO as well as direct collaboration with the broader team. Responsibilities Maintain all trust accounting records to the highest standard and ensuring all issues are dealt with promptly and appropriately including : Trust to office transfers Trust to trust transfers Bank reconciliation Dormant balances Unclaimed monies Client refunds / overpayments and unpresented payments Unpresented trust payments Trust payments Trust receipting Undertake all daily, weekly and monthly processes and reconciliations in relation to the firm’s documented trust processes Update the firm’s documented trust accounts processes as required Support Trust Accounting Manager with trust account auditor requirements to achieve satisfactory completion of trust account audits Opening closing and reconciliation of the investment accounts Maintain a knowledge of trust accounting regulations in the relevant jurisdictions Requirements We welcome applications from candidates wanting to take the next step with their career and step into a Trust Accounting Officer role as well as candidates who have direct prior experience. Ideally 3 years of trust accounting experience within a legal / professional services environment Proficient in Microsoft computer tools (specially Microsoft Excel) Experience with financial / legal practice management systems Have proven experience working both individually and as part of a team Have strong strategic thinking analytical and problem-solving skills Strong time management and organisational skills.
