Make-A-Wish – Wish Granting and Fundraising Volunteers – Western Sydney Make-A-Wish® Australia brings amazing people together to grant inspirational, life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We work with sick kids, their families and medical teams to grant unforgettable wishes like making unicorns fly, sending kids to the moon, and even helping Australia’s youngest ever cricket captain don the baggy green Join the Western Sydney #WishForce and make a lasting difference. By sharing your time and skills, you can help Australian children experiencing life-threatening illnesses. When you volunteer in your local branch, you’ll become part of the #WishForce helping children who are fighting serious illnesses by: Getting active in your local branch meetings (held monthly) Helping local wish families by capturing their child’s unique wish and bringing it to life through all stages of the Wish Journey We know that your time is precious, so we’ll work with you to make sure you get the most out of your experience with us. You have the opportunity to: Join an inspiring organisation, where you will help children experience the anticipation and long lasting effects of a wish‑come‑true Receive training to get you wish‑ready Access Community, our online support network where you can connect with other members of our Wish Force and access handy resources Make connections and build lifelong friendships Before submitting your interest to become a branch volunteer, it’s important to consider the following key requirements: A commitment of at least 12 months as a Branch volunteer to ensure consistency for wish children and their families. A comprehensive background check, including interview, reference checks, a Working with Children Check (or equivalent for your State/Territory) and a National Background Check. All volunteers must complete online induction training within their first 6 weeks of becoming a volunteer, so must have basic technical skills and access to a personal email address and a computer or smartphone/device. Regular attendance at monthly branch meetings, held once a month on a weekday evening. The ability to attend meetings, wishes and fundraising events, so volunteers must have access to reliable transport. Category : Young People Commitment : Regular – more than 6 months Type Of Work : Companionship & Social Support, Fundraising & Events Time Required : Volunteers are required to attend a meeting once a month. Training : Volunteers will be required to complete online induction modules.
