Job Overview Allied Health Assistant – Dietetics – The Royal Children’s Hospital. This is a Fixed Term Part Time position from February 2026 to October 2026 at 0.6 FTE working Wednesday‑Friday, within the Nutrition and Food Services department. The RCH is a cornerstone member of the Melbourne Children’s Campus and has been caring for children and young people of Victoria for over 150 years. The Hospital has more than 6,000 staff and provides a full range of paediatrics and adolescent health services. Role Summary This position provides clinical education and support under the guidance of dietitians and a HEN technician to undertake a range of support activities that ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the dietetic department. The AHA predominately works in the Home Enteral Nutrition space; providing feeding pump training, ensuring timely discharge, and ordering HEN supplies for patients. Additional support roles include assistance with the indirect calorimeter, simple education provision, food diary assessment, and general administrative tasks. Classification for this position will be AHA Grade 3, IN30 (Full‑time equivalent base salary $65,754 per annum pro‑rata, plus superannuation). What You’ll Achieve Support the clinical work of the dietetic clinicians by working collaboratively with dietitians, the HEN administrative officer and manager to maintain and improve the clinical environment and delivery of service. Provide feeding pump training to patients to facilitate timely discharge. Ensure appropriate equipment and stock are available for clinician use by maintaining requirements and ordering stock for clinical practice. Communicate with other team members to ensure tasks are undertaken effectively and patient needs are met. Ensure equipment is maintained in a suitable condition for use, cleaning designated equipment when required and reporting faults and damage. Your Skills And Experience Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Major in Nutrition & Dietetics) or a relevant other degree. Proficient computer skills. Experience working directly with paediatric patients as an Allied Health Assistant. Previous experience in a hospital setting. Other Requirements Current National Criminal Record Check, or willingness to obtain one. Valid Working with Children Check. Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one. Compliance with RCH’s “Staff Immunisation – Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases” procedure.
