Child Safety Officer – Out of Home Care Department for Education, Children and Young People – Child Safety & Youth Justice Operations, Adoptions, Permanency & Out of Home Care. Applications must be submitted by Sunday 14 December. Salary: $73,834 to $111,364 pro rata per annum + 12% superannuation. Employment type: Permanent, full-time day work and fixed‑term full-time day work. Classifications: Allied Health Professional Level 1‑2 (Award: Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement). Locations: Launceston, Hobart, Burnie. Hours: 76 hours per fortnight. About the role: You will be at the heart of protecting children and young people from harm, supporting families and fostering safer futures. Key responsibilities: Investigate and assess notifications of children at risk of harm from abuse or neglect. Provide quality, timely and effective intervention and case‑management services. Prepare and present information for court processes; make recommendations in the best interests of the child. Collaborate with families, children and other professionals to resolve issues and promote safety, stability and development. Engage with children and families to strengthen family capacity and monitor outcomes. Qualifications and experience: Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) – status ‘Employment’. Current driver’s licence. A tertiary qualification approved by the relevant National Board (e.g. Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Youth Work, Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) etc.) and eligibility for membership with the relevant National Board or professional association; or an alternative AQF Level 7 qualification relevant to the duties. Relevant experience in case management/casework practice within a child safety or similar context. High empathy, strong interpersonal skills, conflict‑management ability, resilience and integrity.
